Who We Are

We are the farm that grows the grass to make the straw, digs the clay to make the cup and grows the seaweed to garnish the cocktail. We start with the fundamentals and create beautiful, functional, earth friendly products in a sustainable manner.

Shaffer Foods sells what we make through our website, from tradeshows and even via fax! We are open for business, collaborations, celebrations and providing products for fund raising. So call us up, we'd love to work with you. 

Our Products

Drinking Straws: We are on a mission to make a significant environmental impact, "Saving the Ocean, One Sip at a Time." Founded by Gerald Shaffer, we specialize in farming eco-friendly reed grass straws, a sustainable and traditional general use straw that bridges the gap between functionality and environmental responsibility. First used over 200 years ago, what's old is new again.

Seaweeds: We grow seaweeds to help provide better nutrition, to create fertilizers that aren't made from petro chemicals and to revive some of our ocean spaces. See our up coming products on the Seaweed tab. 

Ceramics: Making our own clay, creating our own designs, building our own master molds, casting, decorating and firing. A lot goes into a mug and we make them so beautifully. Carry our collection in your store, they aren't cheap but they are great value.

Wooden Crates & Toys: Our team kept seeing these piles of wood at the end of driveways and construction sites headed for the dump. It didn't take us long on figuring out what to make from it all. Shaffer Crate & Toys makes exceptional quality country style farm crates and wonderfully large building blocks. Diverting wood from waste, creating employment, trade and great products.
